Kintsugi

Join us for our first outdoor arts and crafts session to learn all about the ancient art form of Kintsugi that celebrates the Japanese philosophy of the beauty of imperfection. This class will involve putting broken pieces of pottery back together by embracing the cracks using the gold mica powder blowing method. Our friendly and welcoming Forest School team will guide you every step of the way so that you leave with beautiful symbolic pottery to treasure.

As well as enjoying the hands-on experience with all the materials provided, you will also learn a little about the history and philosophy of Kintsugi, drink traditional tea and soak up the natural environment.  You will get to create up to two classic Japanese bowls. You also have the option to bring your own crockery (vase, plate, bowl, cup) and we can explore how to fix this the best way.

Join this creative workshop that takes place in a welcoming outdoor environment. Enjoy learning about this unique craft with friends and meet other like minded people and connect to the power of nature. Experience quiet reflection time,  follow the wabi-sabi philosophy of domestic recycling and take some time out of life to nurture your own wellbeing.
